Speaking words of wisdom

I’ve always wanted to see the mythical ballroom above Flinders Street Station in Melbourne, but there’s really no way to get up there. It’s a hidden space that us mere mortals don’t often get access to, and so when I heard that Australian artist Patricia Piccinini would be holding her latest exhibition in this wonderful place it was a double-stoke day.

Patricia’s often surprising sculptures bring to life improbable creatures that inspire a deep-rooted empathy and hope for their future. The detail in the often-naked creature’s skin, from individual hairs, to wrinkles, nipples, fingernails, and more draw you in and you could literally spend hours staring at one individual being. The scenarios she presents could be everyday or scenes from a movie, but there is no doubt of their beauty. Share and enjoy!
