Bug Ninja

For hundreds of years, if not thousands, insects have been the inspiration from some wild stories – from books to films, Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis to George Langelaan’s The Fly – they provide a rich playground for the imagination to run free. Bugs and spiders can be beautiful, terrifying, and intriguing and if you look closely their little faces are full of personality. Yet getting up close and personal with creepy crawlies is not for everyone, and for some it can create a paralysing fear that is close to pure terror. Some of them are also so very small that you would need damn good eyesight to be able to see every gorgeous detail. Luckily, we don’t have to put ourselves through these mental and visual gymnastics as photographers, like the very talented Jamie Thorpe, AKA @bug_ninja, have put in the hard yards for us so that all we need to do is sit back and scroll through the delightful treasures in his Instagram.
